Frequently Asked Questions

+What forms of insurance do you take?
We take many forms of insurance. The easiest way to find out if we take yours is to call us at 417-886-9094 or email us at info@mcquearydental.com. That said, we are a PPO (preferred provider organization) for Delta Dental, Aetna, Assurant Employee Benefits, Dental Networks of America, Blue Cross Blue Shield IL, NM, OK, TX, Dearborne, Security Life Premier, and Cigna.
+I don't have insurance. Can you still help me?
Yes and we’d love to! Because you don’t have dental insurance, preventative care is extremely important. While nobody likes paying for preventative care, it is significantly less expensive than the kind of dental procedures that can result from a lack of preventative care.
+How much do your procedures cost?
The cost of any procedure varies depending on the patients needs and the kind of insurance you carry, if any. We would be happy to meet with you to discuss the costs and benefits of any procedure. Contact us anytime to set up a free consultation, or simply call us at 417-886-9094.
+How many appointments will it take to give me the perfect smile I've always wanted?
This depends on the current state of your smile, of course. If you are open to the use of veneers and tooth whitening, the amount of visits required can be drastically reduced.
+Will any of the treatments you offer cause damage to the tooth structures?
No, our procedures should not harm enamel or any portion of the components. In many ways, our staff can actually improve them and make them stronger.
+Are the reconstructive procedures you offer permanent or will they have to be repeated from time to time?
The benefits of reconstructive procedures should last a long time if they are properly cared for. Cleaning, brushing, flossing and regular dental checkups will aid in the permanence of any procedure and overall dental health.
+Does tooth whitening really work?
Yes, bleaching does really work – although results do vary.
+Why are your teeth whitening techniques better than over-the-counter methods?
There are a few reasons why a custom fit bleaching system from Dr. McQueary is more effective than the over-the-counter solutions. Over-the-counter trays are designed to fit in your mouth but are not custom fit to your teeth. As a result, there is little control over where the bleaching solution goes. Since the chemical included in these home kits is an irritant to the gums, they have to be made considerably weaker (and less effective). The trays made by Dr. McQueary are custom fit to your teeth, which prevents the chemicals from getting on your gums. This allows us to provide you with a significantly more effective solution.
+When teeth are whitened, does it make them more sensitive?
Sensitivity can occur, but it is usually temporary. Any sensitivity will usually only last a couple of days post-treatment.
